Handicrafts convention and exhibition-2016 at LCCI

LAHORE: Handicraft sector of Pakistan has the potential to bring in huge foreign exchange provided it is facilitated through logistic support by the government.

This was stated by the LCCI Vice President Nasir Saeed while inaugurating the Handicrafts convention and exhibition 2016 here at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry on Monday. Convener of LCCI Standing Committee on Handicrafts Nasira Taskeen, former Vice president Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi, Tanveer Ahmed, Adnan Khalid Butt and Salman Basit were also present on the occasion.

Nasir Saeed said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) is highlighting the potential of all of those sectors, through fairs and exhibitions, which can play majestic role in economic turnaround of the country.

The LCCI Vice President said that fairs and exhibitions not only help attract foreign buyers and bring in much needed foreign exchange but also highlights the soft image of Pakistan. Citing the examples of Germany and China, he said that their economies are thriving today only because of their on trade fairs & exhibitions and exchange of delegations. He said that Germany is the leader as far as sector-specific exhibitions are concerned as over 1000 exhibitions are held in Germany annually.

Now the private sector in Pakistan is also focusing on holding exhibitions and it was a good sign and a good omen for the economic well being of the country, the LCCI Vice President added.

He said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has always stressed the need for exchange of business delegations and holding of exhibitions for being proven tools to promote economic activities.

He said that this Handicrafts convention and exhibition 2016 exhibition would help promote investment in this sector. He said that exhibitions are one of the most effective marketing tools for increasing sales figures and expanding markets. The exhibitions help with finding new clients and partners besides increasing sales figures through expansion in geographical range of their sales.

Taking part in exhibitions is not just an opportunity to improve the competitiveness of products, it can also make the manufacturer more competitive – by optimizing business processes, expanding service range, increasing brand awareness and customer loyalty, he added.

Convener of the LCCI Standing Committee on Handicrafts Nasira Taskeen called to tackle those factors which are hampering the growth of handicrafts sector.

Meanwhile, a large number of people belonging different walks of life visited the stalls established by the experts of handicrafts and shown keen interest in the exhibited products.
