LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has suspended a wealth tax notice for the recovery of Rs 130 million from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Jahangir Tareen.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had issued a wealth tax recovery notice to Jahangir Tareen, a prominent businessman and politician.
Tareen’s counsel told the court that the FBR had unlawfully issued a notice for the recovery of Rs130 million as wealth tax. He said the board had no power to recover wealth tax. He requested the court to set aside the notice.
Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza suspended the notice and sought a reply from the FBR by September 30.
