Multan Customs to attach properties, accounts of Rainbow Industries

MULTAN: The Model Customs Collectorate has issued the attachment warrant of a defaulter, Rainbow Industries, for the recovery of Rs 572,285 short payment on the import of two consignments.

The customs issued several recovery notices to the Rainbow Industries located on Khanewal Road, Multan, for the payment of taxes pending due to conflict in valuation rulings. The recovery department intimated the defaulter a couple of times for the payments but it remained reluctant.

Deputy Collector Muhammad Ali Malik, who is also recovery officer, has decided to attach their moveable and immoveable properties and bank accounts in order to recover the dues.

As per details, the importer tried to clear consignments under a valuation ruling, which was not accepted by the Customs Department. So, the importer filed an appeal against the Customs Valuation that was quashed by the court. Therefore, the Multan Customs has initiated stern action against the company to recover the dues.

Principal Appraiser Mehmood Ahmad Khan has been given the task of attachment officer for recovery of outstanding amount under Rule 133 and 151 of the Customs Rules, 2001.

The Multan Customs will also attach bank accounts of defaulter for recovery under Section 202 of Customs Act, 1969.
