Collector Preventive Saifuddin Junejo tells officials to step up efforts to curb smuggling

KARACHI: Collector of Customs Collectorate Preventive Dr Saifuddin Junejo has stressed the need for stern measures to curb smuggling through land, air and sea routes.

Addressing a meeting at his office, attended by the additional collectors, deputy collectors and assistant collectors, Dr Junejo hailed the performance of the Customs staff deployed at airport.

He said that the Customs Preventive staff had been doing a good job for the last six months and had seized smuggled items worth millions of rupees at Karachi airport. Dr Junejo also ordered the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) to speed up its action against smugglers.

It is pertinent to mention here that former Collector Preventive Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda had served as Collector Preventive for around five years and during his tenure, innovation and modern technologies were used to improve performance of the officials.
