WASHINGTON: Well today could be your lucky day, as Dublin Port have put out an open call for artists to create original work as part of their latest project. They’re looking for a series of exciting public artworks and installations, which they hope will bring more people to the port. A statement from Dublin Port said: “The commissioned artworks will respond specifically to the built environment and local areas in and around Dublin Port, enhancing the public realm to draw audiences and port visitors, while creating a living exhibition and cultural trail.”
The commission is open to visual artists and artists who work with film, including projections. Different locations around Dublin Port have been chosen to house the pieces, namely Poolbeg Lighthouse, the Half Moon Battery, the headquarters of the Dublin Port Company and the North Quay Extension.
Chief Executive of Dublin Port, Eamonn O’Reilly said: “One of the challenges for Dublin Port is to create stronger links between the Port and the City, and through the arts we are working to achieve that. “With Port Perspectives we want to bring the port and surrounding areas to life, using new and original artworks that inspire, engage and tell the story of Dublin Port to audiences far and wide.”
