FST reserves verdict, adjourn several cases in first week of September

ISLAMABAD: In the first week of September, the Federal Service Tribunal (FST) reserved its decisions in a couple of cases and adjourned the hearings.

A division bench of the FST comprising members Syed Rafique Hussain Shah and Muhammad Arshad Bhatti heard promotion cases filed by M Iqbal and Habib Ahmed and reserved the decisions. Both the FBR employees sought directions for the department to promote them on merit. The same bench also heard a couple of other cases carrying dismissal matters.

Tariq Tanveer and Noreen Safia had moved the FST, challenging their dismissals from the services. The appellants had prayed the tribunal to direct the FBR to allow them to serve on the posts from where they were removed.

FST Chairman Justice (r) Syed Zahid Hussain and and Dr Nazir Saeed heard three cases filed by Muhammad Sulaman Javed, Muhammad Nawaz, and Muhammad Shakeel Akhtar. The bench adjourned hearing following absence of main counsels from the tribunal.

However, the tribunal issued directives to the representing counsels to submit relating documents prior to next hearing. The bench would resume hearing of the cases in October.

Muhammad Sulaman Javed had prayed to tribunal to ensure implementation over its already given decision, Muhammad Nawaz had challenged dismissal from services, and Muhammad Shakeel Akhtar had challenged removal from services.

Another bench of FST comprising Members, Muhammad Arshad Bhatti and Muhammad Javed Iqbal Kasi  adjourned hearing on the case filed by Ahmed Hussain.

Members Ishtiaq Ahmed and Dr Nazir Saeed dated in office hearing of a petition filed by Sher Afgan Ali. He has filed a review petition asking the tribunal on review the decision given on his ‘promotion’ case.
