DC Asma issues notice in Hino Ranger Milk Tanker’s case

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued a show cause notice to a suspect of non-duty paid Hino Ranger Milk Tanker worth Rs 3 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 810,000.

As per details, Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Jhang, received information through Additional Collector Muhammad Saeed Asad that a smuggled Hino Ranger Milk Tanker bearing Registration No LXK-8493 is coming from Lahore side for Jhang.

Therefore, Superintendent Saeed Joiya along with his staff held a check post near Faisalabad Bypass Road, Jhang and intercepted the said vehicle. The team asked the owner named Muhamma Abbas to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle but he could not produce the same.

Therefore, the officials impounded it under the customs laws and forwarded case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now, Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 2(S) read with SRO No, 566(1)/2005 Section 15, 16, and 18 of the Customs Act, 1969 and called upon him to show cause as to why impounded vehicle is not fell under aforementioned provisions of the law.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.

The adjudication authority also directed Jhang ASO Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
