Peshawar ASO seizes smuggled goods worth Rs 225.4m in July-August: AC Fazal-e-Samad

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Collectorate Peshawar seized a huge quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs 225.4 million during the first two months of the current fiscal year.

Additional Collector Fazal-e-Samad told Customs Today that the anti smuggling squad showed outstanding performance during the month of July and August. He said the ASO staff thwarted many attempts of smuggling in the region.

He said that anti smuggling campaign is going very successfully under the supervision of FBR it is very much clear that Collectorate will exceeds its assigned target.

Additional collector said that items which were seized by the ASO includes imported cloth value of Rs 98,570,060, the imported fabric have high demand in different parts of Punjab and other provinces.

He said customs department seized black tea under value of Rs 24,235,200, this is also a popular commodity in smuggled items, and the ASO also seized foreign currency under value of Rs 22757000.

Samad added that ASO seized different types of tyres and tubes worth Rs2,377, 250, while ASO squad seized 95 bottles of smuggled liquor worth Rs 230, 000 and different types of auto parts of Rs 11,769,875.  Deputy collector said that mobil oil under value of Rs 59,000, cigarettes 198656 dandas under value of Rs 14,331,625, electronic goods under value of Rs 5437500, scrape 3685 Kg under value of Rs 1,381,875.
