ABADAN: Director General of Abadan Customs Administration Hamid Ahmadi has reported on a 26-percent rise in goods exports from the southwestern Iranian city of Abadan. In the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (began March 20), approximately 50 thousand tons of goods and commodities were deployed overseas through Abadan Customs and two of its subsidiaries, said Ahmadi.
He noted that the exported goods, worth 35 million dollars, mainly comprised petrochemical products, handcrafts, fruit, groceries as well as fisheries such as fish and shrimp. “In the meantime, as estimated amount of 15 thousand tons of various goods were imported into the country, a figure which indicated a five-percent declined as compared with the same period a year ago,” added the official. Hamid Ahmadi deemed Kuwait and the UAE as main destinations for Iranian goods adding “the imported products, with a value of 45 million dollars, largely consisted of spare parts and fabric which come from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the most part.”
The aggregate revenue from Abadan Customs Administration in the five-month period amounted to more than 11.5 million dollars showing a growth of seven per cent as compared with the similar period last year, underlined the official. Ahmadi said the volume of foreign transit in the mentioned timespan stood at 800 tons which revealed a 21-percent uplift; “automobile enjoyed the largest share in foreign transit section with a volume of 6.5 million dollars,” he concluded.
