Gwadar Customs foils attempt to smuggle 18,000 liters Iranian diesel

KARACHI: The Customs Gwadar has foiled an attempt to smuggle 18,000 liters of High Speed Diesel of Iranian origin during a crackdown here and arrested two persons.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Gwadar Customs Saeed Akram received information that a huge quantity of Iranian diesel is being smuggled outside Gwadar city. He immediately formed a team under the supervision of deputy collector and started checking of vehicles at main entry and exit points of Jeewani area.

The team intercepted an oil tanker which was loaded with Iranian diesel. The customs team asked the driver of the vehicle to produce legal documents regarding possession and transportation of loaded diesel but he remained failed to produce any relevant documents.

Upon his failure customs team seized the diesel along with tanker and arrested both persons who were board on the tanker. Customs authorities after registering a case of smuggling against accused persons started further interrogations.
