LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) Monday urged Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman to extend the date for filing of income tax returns till Dec 31, 2016.

LCCI President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, Senior Vice President Almas Hyder and Vice President Nasir Saeed said here that because of political unrest, protests, long Eid holidays, complex FBR online system and trade bodies elections in September, it was impossible for the business community to file income tax returns by the end of this month.

The LCCI office-bearers said that extension in the date would help the government achieve its revenue target and send a positive signal about private-public sector liaison.

“Extension in the date for the filing of income tax returns till December 31, 2016 will give a good message that the government honours the business community,” they concluded.
