LAHORE: Cholistan Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar has said that 236,000 acres of uncultivated land will be allotted to 13,400 farmers, who are landless and permanent residents of Cholistan.
Paperwork in this regard has been completed and allotment letters have been prepared, which will be handed over at a ceremony.
He said this while chairing a meeting here on Monday. Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Saqib Zafar, Parliamentary Secretary Irrigation Khalid Mahmood and other officials were also present on the occasion.
He said that poor farmers of Cholistan, who have less than 16-acre cultivatable land, would be provided 12.5-acre land. “The information about the farmers who will be given land, have been verified through National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the Election Commission of Pakistan and district administrations,” he added.
He said that in the first phase, the farmers of district Bahawalpur would get 187,000 acres, while 88,400 acres of land would be allotted to farmers of district Bahwalnagar, and 3,800 acres to farmers of Rahim Yar Khan.
