FAISALABAD: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication adjourned as many as 88 seizure cases involving Rs 112.061 million during first two month of fiscal year 2016-17.
Adjudication Collector Raja Tahir Majeed adjourned three cases involving Rs 15.7 million pertaining to the seizures of various items. The cases were made by the customs authorities.
Furthermore, Additional Collector Beelam ur Remzan adjourned 34 cases worth Rs 48.416 million, while Deputy Collector Asma Hameed postponed 51 cases involving Rs 47.945 million.
Most of the adjourned seizure cases were detected and registered by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation, while few cases were made by the Faisalabad Anti-smuggling Organisation (ASO). These cases were forwarded by Mianwali, Sargodha, Jhang, and Sara-e-Muhajir regions.
The seizure cases pertaining to smuggled Toyota vehicles, mobile phones, base oil, tyres, tubes and auto parts were heard by the Customs Adjudication authorities.
Besides, the adjudication also issued notices to accused persons to attend the hearing. The collector directed the owners of seized goods and their counsels to present their arguments in next hearings.
