Tax evasion: Collector Adjudication-I issues show-cause to M/s Ericsson Pakistan

KARACHI: Collector, Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I Suraiya Ahmed Butt has issued a show-cause notice to M/s Ericsson Pakistan for tax evasion of Rs 8.28 million on import of multi purpose batteries and power backup equipment.

The official sources told Customs Today that M/s Ericsson (Private) Limited imported multi purpose batteries and power backup equipment by mis-declaring them in the PCT heading 8507.2010 instead of declaring them under their correct PCT heading 8507.2090.

Thus, by way of mis-declaration of classification, M/s Ericsson Pakistan Pvt Ltd with the active connivance of their clearing agent M/s Saspak Cargo Pvt Ltd has evaded/short paid Rs 8.28 million. In this regard, the Collector Adjudication-I has called upon the importer to justify why taxes evaded.
