Customs Court awards jail term to suspects involved in Rs 210m sales tax evasion

KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi awarded two to three months imprisonment along with Rs. 6,000,000 fine to six suspects and acquitted one in sales tax fraud case of Rs 210 million.

After the completing both sides’ arguments, the court awarded imprisonment along with Rs 1,000,000 fine to each accused. The convicts are Syed Ali Jawwad son of Syed Nadir Ali, Shahid Aziz son of Abdul Aziz Khalid, Inamul Haq son of Abdul Haq, Shakeel Ahmed son of Aziz Ahmed, Asif Patel son of Haji Abdul Rauf and Imran Ahmed Jan son of Ahmed Jan. However, the court acquitted Muhammad Zeshan son of S Muhammad Arif.
