IHC adjourns hearing of case filed by M/s Pakistan Telecom Mobile

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday adjourned the hearing of a tax reference filed by M/s Pakistan Telecom Mobile Limited, challenging recovery notices of over Rs 6.9 million.

A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq heard the case and adjourned it after hearing initial arguments from both sides.

M/s Pakistan Telecom Mobile Limited had filed the case challenging Large Taxpayers’ Unit, Islamabad’s show cause notice for recovery of Rs 6.9 million under the head of income tax. The appellant had also sought from court to set aside LTU order carrying the claim about outstanding tax amount.

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), officers of LTU including commissioner Inland Revenue, deputy commissioner Inland Revenue and commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals) were made respondent in the case.

The appellant had prayed the court to direct LTU not to recover the said amount and abstain from any coercive action in this regard.

The petitioner had prayed the court operation of the impugned order issued by the tax authority may kindly be suspended till the decision of appeal pending before the LTU.
