DG Internal Audit completes 80pc work on preparing of audit paras related to steel consignments

KARACHI: The Directorate General of Internal Audit has completed 80 percent work of audit paras related to the imported consignments of steel during the last three years.

The sources informed Customs Today that the Directorate General of Internal Audit would complete its working by the end of the current month. The data of all three field formations, Appraisement West, Appraisement East and Port Qasim will cover the period of last three years.

The sources informed this scribe that the Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) on the request of FBR has provided the clearance data of the steel consignments during the last three years.

Replying to a query, the departmental sources informed that million of rupees recovery in terms of short payment in the clearance of steel consignments from all three field formation Collectorates during last three years.

The sources disclosed that around Rs 300million short revenue has been witnessed and detected during establishing of audit-paras by the authorities of the Internal Audit adding that those audit-paras would be sent to the respective Collectorates after the approval of Director General-Internal Audit for settlement.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Directorate General of Internal Audit decided to initiate audit into the post released clearance consignments of steel consignments from all three field formation Collectorates i.e. Appraisement East, Appraisement West and Port Bin Qasim.

The Director General of the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs Dr Agha Owais Jawwad was held a meeting of the authorities of the department in which he directed the officers to threat out all clearance data of steel consignments from all three field formation Collectorate for last three years.
