Irrigation dept recovers over Rs 18.7m abiana from growers

MULTAN: The Irrigation department recovered over Rs 18.7 million water rates (abiana) from growers from July 1st to August 31, 2016 in Irrigation Multan zone.

According to irrigation sources, the teams recovered water rates Abiana over Rs 1.6 million from Multan district, Rs 40,454 from Lodhran, over Rs 9.8 million abiana from Vehari and over Rs 7 million from Pakpattan district.

Similarly, Rs 85,767 water charges (tawan) was also recovered from four districts under Irrigation Multan zone including Rs 11788 from Lodhran, Rs 30,000 from Vehari, Rs 43,979 from Pakpattan during the same period.

The teams continuously raiding across the zone to control the water pilferage and ensure the provision of water to tail-end growers, sources concluded.
