Pesco teams nab 162 illegal consumers

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) surveillance teams Tuesday arrested 162 illegal consumers of electricity from Peshawar, Khyber, Swat and Bannu circles.

The spokesman of Pesco said here that following the directives of Chief Executive Pesco Anwar Ul Haq Yousafzai, the surveillance team raided in different areas and pointed out 162 more illegal connections.

The team checked various premises in Town-2 and Cantt sub division Peshawar and nabbed 40 accused of power theft including few commercial connections, wrong tariff and tampered meters.

Similarly during checking in the areas of Pabbi-1 sub division during checking 67 accused of power pilferage including tampered meters nabbed. Slow meter was found of Sein Lay pharmaceutical Industries and Wali Engineering workshop.

During the checking in Madyan sub division of Swat Circle 13 accused of power theft were held, 13 were arrested from Themargara and Batkhela sub divisions, including Musarat Shaukat hospital, Educator school, water supply scheme Nasapa and a stone crush machine. Similarly 16 accused of power pilferage were identified in Urban sub division, 5 in Surani sub division and 8 were from Sarai Nourang sub division of Bannu Circle and all were arrested.

Pesco warns strict action against illegal consumers and advised general public to point out the illegal connections as part of their national responsibility.
