FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued a show cause notice to a suspect allegedly involved in using a non-duty paid vehicle, Suzuki Jimny Seira.
As per details, Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation team intercepted the vehicle bearing Registration No. LOQ-1668 near Sargodha Road, Faisalabad.
The team asked the owner of the vehicle, Hafiz Zaigham Abbas, to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle but he could not produce any documents .
Therefore, the officials impounded the smuggled vehicle under customs laws and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
Now, Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Section 156 (1) 89 of the Custom Act, 1969 and called the accused person to show cause as why the said vehicle should not be impounded under aforementioned provisions of the law.
However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.
Hearing date in this case has been fixed, besides directing that the respondent may appear in person or through his accredited representative before the undersigned at the office to defend the allegataions.
The adjudication authority also directed Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
