LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs, Taxation and Anti Smuggling approved 14 days judicial remand of a suspect who was arrested by the customs authorities from Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore.
Sources told Customs Today Ibrar Islam was arrested by Customs Preventive while he was attempting to travel for Muscat. During search of his luggage, the Customs Preventive team found a huge quantity of gold that he was trying to smuggle from Lahore to Oman. Customs team arrested him and found 550 grams of gold that was tactfully hidden in his bag.
The Customs Preventive had registered a case against the suspected and started investigation after confiscating the gold that he was trying to smuggle.
Customs Investigation and Prosecution team presented him before the judge of the Customs Court and asked him for his physical remand that the court was approved for three days for investigation to dig out more from accused.
Now he was again produced before the Customs Court after which he was sent to jail on judicial demand. Customs authorities registered a case against him under Customs Act 1969.
