Hyderabad ASO seizes non-duty paid cigarettes, gutkha worth Rs17.8325m

HYDERABAD: Customs  Anti-Smuggling  Organization  (ASO ) seizes huge quantity  of foreign  origin  cigarettes of  different  brands and Indian  origin  gutkha  along  with Hino track  during  a  successful  raid and arrested two persons. The market value of seized goods is Rs 17.8325 million.

Sources told Customs Today  that Collector  Agha Shahid Majeed received credible information that huge quantity of non-duty paid cigarettes and Indian origin gutkha is being smuggled. He immediately constituted a team under the supervision of Additional Collector Rehmatullah Vistro and Additional Collector Omer Shafiq. The team comprising Deputy Superintendent Saleem Channa, Deputy Superintendent Sikander Panhwar , Inspector Anwar Ahmed Siddique, Inspector Khair Muhammad Pathan, Inspector Shafi Muhammad Jamali, Inspector Mushtaq Ali Lakho. Upon his failure the ASO team arrested him and his companion Khalique Dar son of Mir Khan under section 175 of Customs Act, 1969.

The  ASO team   intercepted  a  Hino truck bearing registration  No TKC100 model 1985  near Shahbaz Medical  Store  Hirabad Hyderabad and recovered  foreign  origin 617 cartons cigarette  of  different brands  worth Rs77,12,500/- duty taxes Rs1,11,71,708/- (approx ) Indian  gutkha 258 bags  worth Rs91,20,000/- and  duty taxes  Rs62,96,062/-.

The ASO team after registering a case of smuggling against accused persons seized entire goods and started further investigations.
