Khushab FIU impounds non-duty paid Suzuki Jimny Jeep

The Customs Intelligence’s field investigation unit (FIU), Khushab impounded foreign origin Suzuki Jimny Jeep worth Rs 900,000 involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 993,520.

The FIU team received information received through Additional Director Muhammad Asif Khan that a non-duty paid vehicle bearing Registration No JAF-042 (Quetta), will be smuggled from Quetta to Islamabad via Dera Ismail Khan Bridge, Mianwali.

The customs team held a picket near Chakarwala, Mianwali and intercepted the said vehicle. The officials asked the driver named Hijarullah son of Muhammad Saleem Khan to produce documents regarding legal import of the vehicle but he remained fail.

Therefore, the officials impounded the vehicle under Section 2(s), 16, and 18 of the Customs Act, 1969, 3(1), (3) of Import and Export Control Act punishable under Section 156 (1) 89 of the Customs Act, 1969. The case has been sent to the adjudication for further legal action.

The team comprising Intelligence Officers Chaudhary Saeed Hayat, Asghar Mehdi Naqvi, Havaldar Muhammad Anwar, Sajjad Ahmed, Naeem Khan Niazi and Sepoy Muhammad Musaddiq participated in operation.
