Islamabad Customs impounds Toyota Prado worth  Rs 4.5 million

ISLAMABAD: The Car Cell of the Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad has impounded a non-duty paid Prado worth Rs 4.5 million from Rawalpindi Saddar.

Sources told Customs Today that the anti-smuggling car cell received information that a non-duty paid vehicle, registration number LED 1033, is coming from Quetta to the Capital (Islamabad) with fake documentation.

In pursuance of the information, the car cell reached Saddar Rawalpindi and intercepted the vehicle model 2003. The team asked the owner to produce legal documents regarding possession of the vehicle but the owner failed to show any relevant documents.

After investigation the Squad found that impounded Toyota Parado’s documents were faked which was abducted in time by the car cell Superintend Chaudhry Safdar and Inspector Khalid Sammad, the vehicle is impounded under Customs Act 1969 and the documents of vehicle have been sent for further examination to I&P department.

The sources said that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued special instructions to customs department to make appropriate steps to arrest smugglers to curb the transfer of non-duty paid vehicles.
