CHAMAN: A complete shutter-down strike was observed in the border town here on Saturday in protest against incidents of kidnapping for ransom.
The strike was observed on the call of Anjuman Tajran, All Parties Action Committee and Doctors Association. Markets, commercial centres and shops remained closed and traffic was thin on city roads. Law enforcement agencies personnel continued patrolling in the city to avert any untoward incident.
All Parties Action Committee leadership contended that armed kidnappers had kidnapped Asfand Yar, the son of Dr. Muhammad Akhtar, the medical superintendent of Civil Hospital Chaman and demanded ransom for his release. They demanded of the authorities concerned to ensure safe recovery of the abducted person.
