Assistant Collector Fahad visits GT Road to review performance of ASO staff

SIALKOT: Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary on Monday visited GT Road along with Superintendent Sardar Manzoor and inspectors Asad, Aamir and Aftab Ahmed to check the performance of the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO).

Sources told Customs Today that during his visit, the assistant collector checked many vehicles and he also instructed drivers to be careful during loading of goods onto their vehicles. He advised them to obtain all booking receipts and other legal documents while driving vehicle loaded with goods.

He also informed that goods without any legal documents would be confiscated, and the consignment would only be released if the owners or their designated persons provided legal documents regarding the import of goods. During his visit, the deputy collector also checked different vehicles, including cars, jeeps, Prado, Pajero etc, and he checked the relevant documents and registration. He advised all the drivers to make sure that all legal documents of their vehicle were complete and with them, in order to avoid  any inconvenience.

He said the FBR had directed all the customs staff to adopt zero tolerance policy towards those persons who are plying non-duty paid vehicles. He said that most of non-duty paid vehicles are being used for transportation of smuggled goods.
