IHC adjourns hearing of case filed against ATIR, FBR till October 24

ISLAMABAD: Directing the counsels to conclude arguments on coming hearing, a division bench of the the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday adjourned the hearing of a reference carrying complaint against Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue and officers of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The IHC division bench, comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, heard the case and adjourned the hearing till October 24.

On Monday, the bench heard responses from the respondent regarding the complaint and directed the sides to final their arguments on next date of hearing.

Ch Muhammad Asif filed the case through which the appellant had challenged an ATIR decision before the court carrying announcement in favor of RTO regarding recovery of outstanding tax amount Rs 4,927,413 in head of income tax.

The appellant had prayed the court to set aside the decision announced by ATIR as well as the show cause notice issued by the RTO, Islamabad regarding the outstanding tax amount.

The appellant had submitted that the show cause notice issued to him in head of income tax was illegal and was based on mala-fide intentions.
