Kohat Customs to hold auction of confiscated items, vehicles today

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar, has approved the dates for auction of confiscated items and vehicles in Kohat division.

The auction cell of Kohat is holding a public auction of vehicles and goods on October 19, 2016 (today) at 11am at Salt House, Kohat. It is hoped that the Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar will gather millions of rupees as revenue through this auction, officials said.

They further said that eligible bidders were encouraged to participate in the event and familiarize themselves with the auction rules, Chapter V of the SRO 450(I)/2001 (Customs Rules, 2001).The approval of auction was good news for speedy disposal of confiscated goods and vehicles to ensure early collection of state revenues.

Sources adding that people from all over the KPK and FATA will be participated in that auction, it is also told that it is first auction during 1st month of second quarter of financial year 2016-17.

Customs sources said that Kohat Customs is the largest division of country having customs check-posts in settled areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA. In North Waziristan Agency, there are two border stations; Ghulam Khan and Angorada, whereas in Kurram Agency, Kharlachi, Burki and Teri Mangal have three customs stations. Teri Mangal was closed since 2007 due to security issue but after eight years it was restored it through notification issued on September 8, 2015. Kohat Customs is known as Salt House established in 1860 to enforce tax on salt.
