BEIJING: Chinese consumers have a growing taste for foreign beer and wine, according to the latest trade data.  According to the entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau of north China’s Tianjin Municipality, the port city imported about 91.85 million liters of beer worth nearly 90 million US dollars from January to September, up 152 percent and 141 percent year on year, respectively.  Wine imports increased by 46 percent to 62 million liters with a total value of over 130 million US dollars.

Large-scale sports events such as this summer’s European Cup and the Olympic Games brought a seasonal boom in the beer market, the bureau said, adding falling prices for foreign beer and wine have also boosted domestic demand.
