MOSCOW: In August 2015/16 MY Russia exported 0.3 KMT of sunseed against 0.8 KMT in July 2016 and 0.4 KMT in August 2014/15, reports UkrAgroConsult. Total sunseed exports in 2015/16 (September-August) equal 60.5 KMT. Despite 50% export growth compared to the previous season, this volume is far from record (in 2005/06 MY – 390 KMT).

Export geography, despite low volumes of shipments, is wide and accounts for 20 countries. Last season supply markets were diversified not only at the expense of EU countries, but also due to the Central Asia and China. Among the leading importers remain Turkey (57.1% of total sunflower exports), Iran (12.5%) and Azerbaijan (11%). In spite of decreasing of export duty, UkrAgroConsult expects insignificant rise in sunseed exports, maximum up to 100 KMT, due to higher prices and strong demand coming from crushers.
