LHC suspends luxury tax notices on two canals home

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has suspended luxury tax notices served on the owners of two canal homes or more. The court announced verdict by deciding various applications.

According to the details, a division bench of LHC comprising Justice Shahid Jameel Khan and Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi heard the case in which the counsel for appellant Noshab A Khan argued before the court that Government of Punjab by making discrimination send notice for luxury tax on two canals homes.

He added, the homes built before year 2000 and houses owned by widows are exempted from luxury tax and the appellants already paying property tax.

He appealed before the court that government wanted to collect double tax, so court null and void the luxury tax notices by the Punjab government.

The court accepted all applications against luxury tax, besides suspending the notices issued to the owners of luxury homes.

Customs Tribunal: The Customs Appellate Tribunal bench-II comprising Judicial Member Omer Arshad Hakeem and Technical Member Imran Tariq heard 10 cases on Wednesday and adjourned all of them until next date of hearing.

According to the details, the tribunal heard 10 cases including Lahore Customs versus Shaukat Khanum, Irfan Aziz versus Multan Customs, Wateen Telecom versus Lahore Post Clearance Audit, Lahore Customs versus Chick Textile, Fayyaz Trading versus Lahore Customs Intelligence and others.
