LAHORE: The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has refuted a news report published in a section of press claiming that Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) had imposed fine on some cement producers for deceptive marketing.
The report stated that CCP fined four cement manufacturers billions of rupees for violation of Competition Act, 2010.
‘The report is misleading as it conveys the impression of a recent event whereas a fine was imposed on August 27, 2009 against which the companies moved the Islamabad and Lahore High Courts and are actively pursuing the matter. The fine imposed stands suspended,’ said the spokesman of APCMA.
‘It seems that the news report was meant to damage the credibility of some of the biggest cement producers of the country deliberately,’ he added.
