Customs Court issues non-bailable warrants of suspects involved in non-duty paid vehicle case

KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi issued non-bail able warrants against the absconding accused persons namely Khurram Shahzad and Nazir Ahmed who are booked in a case of smuggled/non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and evaded the duty and taxes of Rs 6,254,238.

During the hearing, investigation officer Syed Mohsin Ali appeared and stated that above named absconding accused persons have not been arrested yet, therefore, the customs court again issued the non-bailable arrest warrants against both suspects.

The Custom Court also directed the investigation officer to arrest the both accused persons and produce them on the next date of hearing. The court adjourned the hearing of case till November 11, 2016.

According to the prosecution, case was registered by complainant Syed Mohsin Ali, intelligence officer Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation-FBR Karachi in violation of section 2 (s) 16 & 178 of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under/ clauses (8) & (89) of sub section (1) read with sub section (2) of section 156 ibid.
