Additional Collector Adjudication Beelam orders to release impounded Hino truck

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramazan has ordered the customs authorities concerned to release a Hino truck that they had impounded a few days ago.

Sources told Customs Today that the Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) team had intercepted a used Hino truck bearing registration no. LIT – 9197  (Loralai ) near Musa Khel , Mianwali . When asked, the driver named Attaullah and owner Haji Abdullah, both residents of  Loralai district, failed to produce documents regarding the legal import of the vehicle. The team impounded the vehicle and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication.

During the hearing of the case, Mohammad Amer represented the respondents and stated that the vehicle was properly registered with the Motor Registration Authority, Mianwali, and its registration number was LIT – 9197 . He state that the seizing agency had formed a case on the grounds of non-production of import documents that could prove that the vehicle was lawfully imported. The Motor Registration Authority (MRA), Mianwali  was asked by the seizing agency to confirm the particulars of the vehicle in question. They submitted a reply, verifying that the vehicle was registered with them under the registration number LIT- 9197.

Moreover, the Forensic Science Laboratory of the chassis plate issued by the FSL shows there was no tampering and no number other than FF3HKK- 10546 has been developed after chemical treatment which is in accordance with the registration book and the impounded vehicle.

Additional Collector Beelam Ramzan heard the case in detail, where the seizing agency could not prove the charges established in the show-cause notice, after which the ADC ordered the authorities concerned to release the vehicle.
