Torkham Customs Station will be modernized due to growth in Afghan trade: Collector Qurban Ali

PESHAWAR: Collector Custom Collectorate Peshawar Qurban Ali has said that due growing trade with Afghanistan, the Torkham customs station will be modernized in the near future. He said that establishment of a state of the art terminal is part of this program.

He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of an overhead bridge at customs station on Pak-Afghan border. Additional Collector Yousaf Haider Orakzai, Deputy Collector Torkham Fazl Shakoor, NLC Border Terminal Senior Manager, Col (r) Iftikhar Shinwari and Frontier Customs Agents Association chairman Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi were also present on the occasion.

Collector Qurban Ali said that today it is moment of happiness that a modern terminal will established in 2017 along with a modern customs station equipped with latest facilities. He said that earlier to this modern checking scanner were installed at customs station and now Web based One Customs system would be installed at the export for which special software is under process.

He said that they will save valuable times of the passenger just like clearance for international countries like China, Malaysia and Singapore. He said that besides revenue generation they want to promote free trade activities at the border as the main target of our trade is central Asian republics.

He mentioned that customs officers would try their level best that not to exploit any one rights and provide equal opportunity to every one. On this occasion NLC Senior Manager Col iftikhar Shinwari also addressed the participants.
