Customs impounds 86 vehicles, non-duty paid fabric in four months of FY2016-17

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Collectorate Islamabad impounded 44 offending and 42 non-duty paid vehicles as well as 30,378 yard foreign origin fabric worth Rs.133.04 million during first four months of the financial year 2016-17.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan told Customs Today that the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) and car cell staff showed outstanding performance during the first four months of financial year 2016-17.

He said that Customs Islamabad generated handsome revenue during first four of current Fiscal Year. He said that customs staff is performing their duties honestly and with full devotion.

Shahid Jan said that through abduction of NDP vehicles the department getting revenue but to seizers of the NDPs vehicles also essential for prevention of security risks, the NDP vehicles can use for terror activities.

He said that during the above mentioned period the ASO impounded 44 offending vehicles amounting of Rs.47950000. He said seizure of offending vehicles is very important to discourage the smuggling trends, the offending vehicles played central role to promote smuggling activities.

He said that ASO staff also seized foreign origin cloth measuring 30378 yards in different raids against tax evader who tried to spread smuggling goods through out the country, but ASO stopped them with best efforts and seized the said fabric cloth.
