ANF recovers 1.3-tonne drugs after arresting 9 suspects

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized huge quantity of drugs weighing 1.3-tonne worth Rs 1.82 billion in international market after arresting nine suspects including one woman and also impounded five vehicles.

The ANF conducted nine operations in Quetta, Chagi, Peshawar, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi and recovered drugs, including of 47kg hashish, 450-gram heroin, and 1,240kg morphine.

As per details, the Quetta ANF intercepted a rickshaw No QAQ-8740 at Sabzal Road and recovered 29kg hashish from the driver. In second operation, the ANF Quetta recovered 1,240kg morphine, hidden in unoccupied land at Killi Zaran, district Chagi and was to be transported to unknown destination.

The Rawalpindi ANF arrested an accused, resident of Mohmand Agency, at Benazir International Airport on suspicion of heroin-filed capsules. During the investigation, 66 heroin-filled capsules (weighing 450 gram) were delivered by the accused, who was travelling to Istanbul through Turkish Airlines Flight No. TK-711. In second operation, the ANF team intercepted a Suzuki Bolan No. ICT-SE-558 at Parking area, New Murree Restaurant near Dhoke Mughal Abad, Murree Road, Rawalpindi, and recovered 5kg hashish.

In third operation, the ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Suzuki Khyber Car No. IDK-1133 at Koh Noor Mills, Bus Stop, GT Road and recovered 2.5kg hashish from personal possession of the accused. In forth operation, the ANF officials recovered 2.5kg hashish from the accused at Mandi Morr bus stop, Islamabad.

The Peshawar ANF also recovered 900 grams hashish from the accused, namely Mumtaz and resident of Charsadda, travelling in a passenger vehicle, near motorway toll Plaza, Peshawar.

The Lahore ANF intercepted a Toyota Corolla Car No. S-4532 & a motorcycle Honda-70 No. LEN-3960 near Faisal Mover Bus Stand, Band Road, Lahore and recovered 6kg hashish from the accused, namely Tahir Hussain and Ismail Khan, both the residents of Mardan.

The Karachi ANF recovered 1.100kg hashish from the accused, namely Abid and resident of Karachi at Chanaser Goth near KMC School, Karachi.

All the cases were registered at the respective ANF police stations and further investigations are underway.
