Peshawar Customs collects Rs 1,850m in October

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar has collected Rs 1,850 million under the head of duty/taxes against the assigned target of Rs 1,982 million during October of current fiscal year 2016-17.

Talking to Customs Today, Peshawar Additional Collector Fazal e Samad said that the department faced shortfall of Rs 132 million in revenue collection owing to some holidays during the month. He added that the customs showed satisfactory performance in wake of anti-smuggling activities and impounding a number of non-duty paid vehicles.

During the said period, the Peshawar Customs surpassed revenue collection target under the head of customs duty by collecting Rs 751 million against the assigned target of Rs 688 million, he said.

In the wake of sales tax, it managed to generate Rs 559 million against the assigned target of Rs 633 million, facing a shortfall of Rs 74 million, he said, adding that Rs 14 million were collected as federal excise duty (FED) on imports against the target of Rs 25 million and missed its target by Rs 11 million.

The Peshawar Customs had been assigned a target of Rs 636 million under the heads of advance income tax (AIT) and withholding tax (WHT), but it could collect Rs 526 million with the difference of Rs 110 million, the additional collector concluded.
