LAHORE: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has postponed the hearing of a case filed by M/s Emcon Chemicals (Private) Limited against Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) until the next hearing.

The counsel added that the field formation collected excessive tax from taxpayers during last two years. The petitioners Muhammad Irfan of M/s Emcon Chemical (Private) Limited Raiwind Road Lahore approached the commissioner concerned in RTO-II many times for refunds but no action was taken in this regard by the Regional Tax Office-II.

Eventually, the appellants decided to approach Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) to direct the RTO-II Lahore to clear the pending refund claims as early as possible, the counsel argued, adding that the Lahore RTO-II should clear the refunds at the end of fiscal year but it did not do the same.

On the other side, counsel for Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) Lahore argued that the RTO-II has ready to settle the case after assessment. After hearing the arguments from both sides the Adviser of Federal Tax Ombudsman Tariq Yousaf adjourned the cases of petitioners of M/s Emcon Chemical Private Limited Raiwind Road Lahore till next date for further hearing and directed the parties to appear on said date.
