Quetta Customs Intelligence seizes 140,000 litre oil during first 3 days of November

KARACHI: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Quetta claims to have seized 140,000 litre Iranian oil worth Rs 8.5 million during the first three days of November.

On the special instructions of Director General Shouket Ali, Director Irfanur Rehman formed special customs intelligence teams under the supervision of Deputy Director Inamul Haq. The teams formed check-posts at main entry and exit points of the city and started checking of vehicles. During various actions the team impounded four oil tankers during the period.

As per the details, the officials said that the oil tankers were impounded from different areas of Quetta and Mastoom. During different actions the team recovered 32,000 liter, 28,000 litre 38,000 litre and 42,000 litre from the four oil tankers. Customs officials said that the department has tighten nose against smugglers and they have stated used new way of smuggling. Officials said that some elements were using fake invoices of Bioko and Ardmore companies.

Customs officials told Customs Today that the customs intelligence team seized the oil and impounded the tankers which were used in smuggling. Sources said that the department has launched crackdown against oil smuggler and in this regard seized 100,000 Iranian oil during the previous month of wile various persons were arrested.
