DUBAI: In celebration of the UAE Flag Day, on November 3rd, Dubai Customs hoisted the flag of the nation at its headquarters and across its air, land and sea customs centers. A series of events were organized to mark the national occasion, which coincides with the 12th anniversary of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s accession as President of the United Arab Emirates.

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Dubai Customs Director, who joined employees along with senior officials to observe the day and witness the hoisting of the UAE flag, said: “Today is a glorious occasion to show our deep and instilled love for the homeland and loyalty to our leadership, in line with the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which aims to reinforce national unity and  remind us all of the great efforts of the country’s founders.

“The Flag Day is an opportunity to celebrate the prosperous history of our loved nation and its aspirations looking ahead into the future. This is a national lesson in loyalty, belonging and giving back to the nation.

“By raising the UAE flag today, we are actually hoisting our deeply-rooted Emirati values which are embodied in the four colours of the UAE flag. It is a message of honesty, peace, cohabitation and love to the whole world.”

Musabih concluded his ceremonial address on a rousing note, saying: “The UAE flag unites us. It is a symbol of pride, it is a heart that beats in our chests, as Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said.”

Dubai Customs staff and senior executives gathered at DC Headquarters’ main gate at 11:00am, the zero hour announced by Sheikh Mohammed for the national flag to be raised across all government institutions. The national anthem was played and 3 customs officers marched towards the flag  pole and briskly hoisted it; while all employees chanted the national anthem before the nation’s flapping flag.

Everybody unfurled the UAE flag with pride and wore flag motif scarfs to express their love and appreciation to this glorious country, in an overwhelming spontaneous gesture.
