AMSTERDAM: Two men have been given lengthy prison terms over a bid to smuggle £2m of cocaine inside computers into the UK.
Pradeep Bhowmick, 31, and James Quinn, 32, were caught after 8kg of cocaine was found inside computers in a lorry at Hull Docks in September 2013.
Both were convicted of being concerned in the supply of the class A drug after police linked them to the consignment. Bhowmick, from Renfrew, Renfrewshire, was jailed for 12 years and Quinn, from Glasgow, was sentenced to 10 years.
The High Court in Glasgow heard that customs officers at Hull Docks stopped a lorry which had travelled from Amsterdam in the Netherlands in September 2013.
Inside, they discovered 8kg of high purity cocaine hidden within computers.
The computers had been bound for a business called Selena MJ Ltd based In Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The investigation led police to Quinn, and freight shipping clerk Bhowmick.
