PESHAWAR: The Colletorate of Customs teams impounded 27 non-custom paid vehicle worth Rs 42 million in the month of October and arrested several smugglers.
Sources told Customs Today that these vehicles were seized at Begiari check post situated in the jurisdiction of Khyber Agency. The vehicles included Honda, Toyota Corolla, Surf and others. The non-custom paid vehicles have been intended to be supplied to Malakand and northern area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA to make profit due to amnesty from taxes in these areas.
In last one year customs teams has confiscated vehicles worth million of rupees out which 18 vehicles were auction on October 18 last. The customs officials also made a successful raid in the past few days and confiscated various goods worth Rs 12.31 million, which were coming from FATA to Peshawar, besides seizing other smuggled items worth Rs 586,000 during crackdown.
Peshawar Customs Colletorate and Torkhan Station is showing outstanding performing well under the supervision of Collector Qurban Ali Khan, as anti-smuggling officials also received appreciation from the collector. The Collector Qurban Ali has made the commitment that smuggling of goods and vehicles will not be tolerated at any level, as it is damaging national economy badly and hampering revenue generation process.
