DHAKA: Bangladesh export earnings declared a 6.50% growth to $10.80bn in the first four month of the current fiscal year compared to the same period a year ago. According to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data released on Sunday, Bangladesh earned $10.8bn in July-October period of the fiscal year 2016-17. In July-October of last fiscal, Bangladesh grossed $10.13bn of exports to the global markets.
The RMG sector, the lifeline of the country’s export earnings, posted a 7% growth to $8.82bn, which was $8.23bn in October 2015. Knitwear products earned $4.53bn with an 8.75% growth, while woven products posted a 5.37% rise to $4.28bn. In October 2016, export earnings posted a 14.39% growth to $2.71bn. It was $2.37bn in the October 2015. The export earnings are 2.84% higher than the $2.63bn target for the month.
