“After ratification of the TIR Convention by the FBR, participation in such conference has become mandatory for the tax related authorities,” the sources said, adding that the participants share the best international practices in the field of revenue collection as well as try to learn from each others expertise in such conferences.

Moreover, the sources said that FBR eyed huge increase in revenue collection out of projects linked and associated with the regional road and rail connectivity. “Through the regional connectivity corridors, huge amount of taxes in the form of import and export duties, federal excise duties as well as others are expected from the goods being transacted under the transit trade” the high level official sources maintained.

As per detailed about the conference shared by the source, the event is being organized jointly held by Turkmenistan government in collaboration with the International Road Transport Union, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, OSCE, and Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA).

The sources said that a Business Summit would also be held on the occasion and a wide range of issues related to all modes of transport (air, motor, railroad and marine) would come under discussion. The subjects proposed for discussion range from investments in basic and infrastructure to environment and safety issues.

The sources said that FBR would take the conference as a platform for exchanging country experiences and lessons learned, for fostering regional and multilateral cooperation to develop sustainable transportation systems, and for announcing concrete partnership initiatives on sustainable transport for SDGs Sustainable Transport System and Socio-Economic Prosperity.

“The Conference will analyze situation in all modes of transport, including rail, road, air and sea, and its contribution to the global sustainable development in all regions and parts of the world,” the sources said while sharing more information saying, the conference would connect main stakeholders from public-private sectors to discuss the importance and utility of a sustainable transport system.
