MOSCOW: In January-September 2016, Russia kept growing sawnwood and plywood export volumes. According to the statistics published by the Federal Statistics Service of Russia, the Russian sawnwood exports grew both in volume and in value terms. Plywood exports grew only in volume.
This, during the first nine months of the current year, Russia exported 12.24 million tonnes of sawnwood. That is 15.1% more than during the respective period of the last year when these figures reached 10.63 million tonnes. The total value of the Russian sawnwood exported in January-September 2016 grew year-on-year as well. In Januarye-September 2016, Russia exported plywood whose total value came up to US$2.383 billion, That is 2.12% more than the last year’s result of US$2.334.
During the above mentioned period Russian plywood exports came up to 1.873 million m3 and increased by 12.78% year-on-year. However, the total value of the exported Russian plywood reduced of the respective period of the last year. Thus. in January-September 2016, the Russian plywood exports came up to USS$708.3 million in value terms, that is 8.9% less than last year (Jan-Sep 2015: US$770,7 million).
