Dubai Customs to organise Innovation Festival

DUBAI: Dubai Customs (DC) is preparing to mark UAE Innovation Week 2016 with an eventful program and various activities. A seven-day Innovation Festival  will take place at DC Headquarters and across all customs centers in Dubai during the UAE Innovation Week, from 20 to 26 of November.

The Festival follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for all federal and local government entities to be part of the nationwide Innovation Week. Plenty of innovation-centered activities and events will be staged during the week to highlight Dubai Customs’ innovative initiatives directed to promoting innovation and creativity among children and new generations.

The DC activities in the UAE Innovation Week vary to engage and educate all segments of society about the efforts of UAE talented minds and innovators to come up with new creations and innovations. The “Innovation Festival” will include panel discussions with the participation of government institutions specialized in creativity and innovation, in addition to brainstorming sessions, and workshops to generate new ideas and innovations through an open dialogue with customers, employees, and partners.

A set of leading innovations developed by UAE innovators will be showcased by DC through an out of the box platform to be set up in front of the DC’s head office, which is designed and equipped with the latest high-tech equipment and smart gadgets. The stage receives visitors and students from schools and universities according to a program of successive students’ visits. DC will introduce innovations of talented people and innovators to the public through a radio program broadcast during the seven-day period of the UAE Innovation Week.

Dubai Customs is also organizing a campaign for innovation in Dubai Airports targeting travellers and staff who can share their new ideas and innovations for the development of customs work in airports.

Furthermore, DC is launching innovative initiatives to stimulate the creativity of children and new generations, most notably through showing children’s films about intellectual property at selected cinemas, targeting school pupils and university students.
