LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved a 14-day judicial remand of a suspect allegedly involved in a gold smuggling case.
A suspect, Ibrar Islam, was arrested by the Customs Preventive from Allama Iqbal International Airport while he was travelling to Muscat. During search of his luggage, the customs officials found 550 gram of gold that he was trying to smuggle from Lahore. The customs registered a case against Ibrar under Pakistan Customs Act, 1969 and seized the gold.
The Customs Investigation and Prosecution team presented him before the Customs Court and sought his physical remand that the court approved for three days.
Now he was again produced before the customs court that has been sent to jail on judicial demand.
