CPEC enhances strategic importance of KP: CM

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that CPEC has enhanced the strategic importance of KP leading to the development of the entire belt as it is a unique project of its nature which will integrate the region.

This he said while talking to the Ambassador of UAE who called on him at CM House Peshawar. “We are looking to the Islamic countries to invest in the KP and get dividend.”

The Chief Minister said that the provincial government has offered investment opportunities and feasibility was already finalized in this regard which, he hoped will benefit the country and neighbouring states as well.

“We are preparing skilled labour force and will provide the required skilled manpower to UAE saying that we want strengthen of our bilateral friendly and trade relations with the Islamic countries.”

The Chief Minister KP told the UAE Ambassador that the province had initiated all arrangements for investment in the backdrop of CPEC. He informed that the province had enormous investment opportunities in energy, tourism, health, education, agriculture and other sectors.

He said that situation in the province was favourable for investment as pro investment atmosphere had been emerged due to which local and international investors were preferring the province for investment. He said that new projects were being identified and people were taking interest in investment now.

The Chief Minister said that the provincial government had evolved a transparent system in the province and was providing attractive incentives to the investors. He said that under the new industrial policy beside lucrative investment, one window operation facility had been provided in the province while an autonomous Economic Zone Development and Management Company had been established for the purpose.

We have abolished condition of NOC for investment in the province and initiated fool proof arrangements for provision of security to the international investors. He told that the provincial government had planned in line with the future of the region as this region would be a hub of trade and economic activities in a near future.

The strategic importance of the region had gone upward due to CPEC. He wished that investors from Muslim countries should come to invest and hoped that collaborative investment would further cement friendly relations.

He said that we have fixed our targets for development in the light of our progressive vision and had also initiated steps to achieve these targets. The Chief Minister further said that we had undertaken long term planning in line with the future of the country which would provide the country a strong base while friendly countries would also benefit of it.

The Ambassador of the UAE took keen interest in investment in tourism, industries, energy and other sectors of the province. He said that the two brother Islamic countries had 50 years long time tested relations. He said that people of both the countries respect each other and we wanted to give new dimensions to the already prevailing relations.
