WARSAW: Poland has been selected to host COP24, the 24th United Nations Climate Change Conference in 2018, the Polish environment ministry said on Friday. The announcement was made as the COP22 2016 climate summit, which hosted some 30,000 envoys from 200 countries, wrapped up in Marrakesh on Friday.
Deputy environment minister Paweł Sałek, who headed Poland’s delegation to COP22, said officials from 200 countries will travel to Poland for the event in 2018. He added COP24 would impact the Polish economy and be beneficial for hotels and restaurants. Sałek said Poland had already successfully hosted two UN Climate Change Conferences, COP14 in 2008 in Poznań, in Poland’s west, and COP19 in 2013 in Warsaw.
